Known until 2007 as California Speedway, Auto Club Speedway is located in Fontana, California, near the locations of two former racetracks, Ontario Motor Speedway and Riverside International Speedway. It was opened in 1997 and quickly established a stellar reputation within US motorsport thanks to its successful hosting of both open-wheel racing and NASCAR© events.
The facility, which can accommodate over 90,000 spectators, comprises a 2-mile, D-shaped oval, a 21-turn, 2.8-mile Sports Car Course, and a 13-turn, 1.45-mile Interior Course, as well as a 0.25-mile drag strip. Auto Club Speedway currently hosts the NASCAR© Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series, while IndyCar racing has returned to the track after a seven-year break. The Rolex Sports Car Series and IROC have also held events there.
