McLaren 's second fully-bespoke supercar may not exhibit the chest-thumping machismo of its big brother, the iconic F1 , but what it lacks in raw power is more than made up for in space-age tech. From its carbon-fiber "MonoCell" chassis to its hydraulic interconnected adaptive suspension, the MP4-12C is truly a car of its time. Its purist predecessor would probably snigger at its electro-hydraulically-assisted steering and Formula One-inspired 'brake steer' technology, but times have changed and so has the automotive industry. That's not to say the MP4-12C is some sort of 21st-century slouch, though. In fact its 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 cranks out nearly 600 bhp, taking it to 60 mph in just over 3 seconds and topping out at an impressive 205 mph. What's more, it does it all with the highest HP-to-CO2 emission ratio of any internal combustion engine in the world.
