Hello Karting Fans  :)

Welcome to another special edition of Simraceway Kart World Championship - Season 9!

This season you will have two new elements to play with. One is the open setup, which you could already try in regular Karting Challenges during the past few days. Second is a new format of Live Races, which will allow us to cover many more tracks/layout in a season, without making a season substantially longer.

I hope you enjoy it and good luck out there!

v9zt.png

It will consist of three Rounds, which will span the next three weeks (from 10th of April, untill 26th of April, 2014) on the following tracks:

  • Round 1, Sonoma Kart and Sonoma Kart Reverse
  • Round 2, Sonoma Kart Outer Loop and Sonoma Kart Outer Loop Reverse
  • Round 3, Sonoma Kart Sprint and Sonoma Kart Sprint Reverse

Each Round (numbered 1, 2 and 3) will include:

  • Hot Lap, qualifying top 8 finishers directly to the Live Race
  • Two Heat Races, with top 3 finishers from each (6 total) qualifying directly to the Live Race
  • Live Race, where 14 participants score the Championship points
  • Live Race Extra, where 14 participants score the Championship points

The final Championship placings will be based on the number of points scored in all three Rounds.

Prize pool is over $150. Please check the distribution below:

2nd - $21

3rd - $18

4th - $15

5th - $13

It's nice having open set up's but I think we need more hot lap time to make it work. Only 24 hours doesn't give enough time to do testing.

We need the hot lap for at least 3 days on open set up's. I had time for 2 sessions but still can't get a feel for the changes I made.

Please open the hot laps earlier if we continue this.

Also earlier hot lap and information would possibly attract more interest in the championship.

Also please disable rear camber from the setup because this is what rear camber looks on a kart

kart_wreck_up_close.jpg

Instead allow rear antiroll bar for example, a karts rear bumper is often loosened/stiffened for ARB-like effect in real life

But ofc those are trivial problems

also i most likely cant make the race

used to like this championship, driving kart had a nice feeling

could say so much about this but last time i got banned so i keep my hate to myself

gl to those making not one but 2 setups in short time with no warning and with no practice server for reverse track

I totally agree. That's why I've picked the well known layout (s) for opening round, because I believe that you guys are already there with a setup for this one.

Also please disable rear camber from the setup because this is what rear camber looks on a kart

kart_wreck_up_close.jpg

I wasn't responsible for chosing which ones will be available and I agree with you, but will verify this particular one with the maker and PKC team before making ammendments. In every case like this, opening particular settings might result in very weird situations, because of the design.

You can say, if you want, but I don't know if there's anything new to say in this topic. I'm trying to please you guys, that's why this setup has been opened, so you can make it feel exactly as you want.

I'll set the regular Challenge event at Reverse layout, but the original goal of this format was to make it challenging and that's why only half of the points for second race. It could be even lower than that - hope you see my point. It's not meant to be a regular race, just an extra opportunity.

everyone on same setup was something that srw had going for it, mainly one person with... extra info..... overwhelmingly wants open setups everywhere and wont do the race apparently

i will do something else too as a setup arms war isnt for me

especially as srw doesnt even give something as basic as a list of laptimes never mind 'advanced' information

and that weird fr 3.5 with opposite setup information in basic n advanced was just bizarre too

Would love a little information box that popped up over each setup option in-game which tells you what each options does. Had this in NR2003 and Assetto Corsa and it's really helpful, i'm sure other games have it too. However, I doubt i'll see this anytime soon here. SRW focuses too much on adding new cars and tracks and updating the badly done older cars. Never do we see updates to the core game its self. Though, I am pleased to see SRW managed to grasp the idea of adding driver models inside the cockpits. It should be necessary that before any new cars are released, they have drivers inside of them from now on.

I petitioned for open setups once like 3 months ago, what i overwhelmingly want is cars to handle normal which most dont. And real racing, which racing simulations are supposed to simulate, especially karting, are all about setting up and the skill to find setups. There is no way around it.

And the kart has so few options anyway, if you cant google ´´how to setup´´ then you dont deserve the benefits of a setup built around you anyway ;) And furthermore, good driver can win races with default setup in any car although it is a fact that those default setups are designed as compromise for both wheel and keyboard/pad drivers at once.

Ofc lack of HUD quality and other features are real problems but those belong in another threads and i hope somone will ever open the kart spotlight thread to see that this kart has problems you can never fix with open setup. But if srw has no time/noone to organize fast workflow solutions for coss so he doesnt have to work 18 hours a day to do basic things and the payout delays are so bad that newer racers cant take part of championships thanks to not having money to buy cars, then i suggest you not to even think of getting your hopes up of SRW doing such things as smaller bugfixes or new features. But when in some distant year they will have time then they will see the problems themselves lol and the many threads here so no need to repeat those in every thread.

Race 1 turned into a disaster for me due to internet connection loss then race 1 extra just about had connection for quali with lag then lost it again for the race :(

I will give the rest of this month a miss now and come back for next month's. (hopefully with 4 weeks of racing and 1 dropped round :D)

Can I watch yesterdays race anywhere?

Please tell me what engineers you have in karting. Ok in F1 driver barely has to speak as engineers set up everything according to data, but in kart races you have driver who feels what needs changing and tells mechanic to change it. That is all.

All gone quiet on this thread, how did April's results end?

Is it all over for the Kart championships now or is there anything in the pipeline for the future?

I am very disappointed by srw!
I keep seeing prize promise, but I was not paid for months more prize money.
Is it just me, or the other drivers going too?
This behavior I find not very professional!
