This season devilbevin will return to the race administration while I will help him live marshalling and be responsible for the forum part.

 

Simraceway Midweek Championship - Season 4 (March 2014)

 

Special Features

• Multicar/multiclass races will take place in the championship
• Timed races will be featured in this championship
• Day to night transitions

 

Rules

• Warnings or penalties can be assigned on-the-fly or post-race
• If the system applies penalties, but it is due to a fault in the cutting track system, penalties will be removed
• In multicar/multiclass races, drivers must race with the same car in the main race as the one they picked for their first heat race in the current week.
• The car in which the driver qualified for the main race must be the same as the car used in the main race itself. Exceptionally, drivers might be allowed to change car (for example, if not enough drivers are participated in a heat race, associated with the car, so there are extra slots on the main race grid)
• In multicar/multiclass races, there are two independent point systems and driver's final standings within the class they are competing in are taken into account, instead of the global position in the leaderboard.
  • The first driver finishing the race in the class X gets the same points as the first driver finishing the race in the class Y car
    • Feel free to choose the car you like the most or the one you drive better, thus allowing you to eventually get more points for that race, if everything goes well
• Respect other on track, specially if there is a blue flag

• Warning for NoFearc: hit Bolinhas when lapping him, causing him to spin and nearly hit the wall, on lap 4
• Warning for vaskezzz: In multiclass races faster cars should go around, but it seems vaskezzz was not careful enough and could have caused a bad situation there

That's a great choice of cars and tracks again for this season. It will be a good reason for me to buy the Zonda R.

 

One thing isn't completely clear to me though:

• If the car X has been chosen to complete the heat race 1 (in that week), the driver must use it in the heat race 2 (if he didn't qualify for the main race) and in the main race itself

Aren't we going to have separate heat races for the prototype and the GT car, like we had last season? If not, and the top 7 finishers in each heat race qualify, it's very likely that we'll end up with 14 prototypes in the main race.

I have to edit that. In the last season, when I wrote the rules I had a different thing in mind. Then I copy & pasted the structure of the last season and forgot to update that rule.
But yes, it is supposed to be like in the last season.

It was a great race, Axfitey was ubsolutely untouchable. Would have been better, if I had been able to catch up with him. Anyway, I had a few lap battle with Lukesky80, but then just practicing to do consistent laps and under 1:46. I managed to do 45:4-7s But it was more than a half sec away from the Ax's time. Congrat everyone who finished! The schedule looks interesting, can't wait for round 3, where another drifting session will begin with that badass Camaro.

No, some of the drivers did not stop in the pits. Final results, when they come out, will then include sanctions and will be different than the provisional ones.

How is that going to work exactly? Does that mean that M3 drivers will not see a chequered flag? Will they have to pay attention to the number of laps they've driven and just exit the race after lap 23?

I still have to confirm with Cossacco how this is going to work. What makes sense is that on lap 28 I take note of the finishing positions with the Mazda, and then wait for the 23rd lap to take note of the standings with the M3 car, which should occur at more or less the same time.

Hi guys,

Here is an important announcement for you. The heat races and main race will be delayed 15 minutes due to the event schedulling system timestep. As cossacco was free to setup the events a while ago, it is only possible to schedule the first heat race to 15 minutes after the time it was supposed to be. Consequently that delay will be carried over to the next races.

It was a clean race, with a very low number of incidents. Keep racing clean

Also, sorry for the inconvenience in the beginning of the main race, where we had to restart sometimes due to players disconnecting or having a mismatch detection.

Yet another unfortunate dropping out of a championship race for me, due to internet connection failure. I thought my internet issues were over with, after I had a series of random disconnections back in January and had to buy a new router from my ISP in order to resolve that. I haven't had any problems since then and I just hope this was some isolated incident that occurred in the worst possible time and won't happen again.

 

Anyhow, before I got disconnected from the race on lap 9, I was running 4th in class with freggel, vaskezzz and ingange in front, pulling away fast. Something happened to Bolinhas in first lap and he was more than a minute behind me, probably with damaged car too, so I think I would have finished 4th if I had made it to the end. I guess getting 5th instead of 4th isn't that bad after all, though I'm not sure if I'll get the full amount of points for 5th position, since I ran less than half of the distance.

 

I wanna say thank you to everyone who participated and of course thank you to the guys who plan and organize this championship for us. Keep on developing the concept of multi-class races, because it really is a ton of fun!

Bolinhas accidentally hit me in first lap, that first 90 degree left corner... my back was wrecked red, could barely drive it.

He probably had critical damage too.

 

I didn't find the point to go back and repair with the car being so uncontrollable (probably bent rear suspension).

 

I think damage is not productive to these races, because of the "sprint" nature - it is too close for comfort.  Had I not got the damage, I would have kept going, not worrying about losing- as I do in QR.  But as we all know, it is not fun trying to finish almost a whole lap with the car spinning even with TC on.

 

I also don't like the qualifying session being so crowded, I got lucky as we were pretty smooth, but on a narrower track, it would be really hard for the faster guys to get around safely.  In 24h Daytona or Lemans, yes they qualify together, but they space them apart as I recall years ago when I used to sit watching hours of it on ESPN2 lol.

 

I was driving conservative, giving space to the front guy, because its CROWDED, like in the Heat race, if I didn't have that space, I would have got critical damage when someone spun out in front of me! 

 

Why do people drive like lap 1 is winning the race.... I can't handle that kind of stress, I rather be consistent.

If this track wasn't Brno with it's wide corners, I would expect worse...

 

Just for reference, I have done Lemons 2008 in South Carolina, team BMWTF?.  Every time I was out there, I was clean, never had a problem- even at the stupid chicane they had.   Why so clean?  Because in real life, I value my health, the car, and fairness.  Our car was damaged twice (I wasn't driving then, fortunately), by people who were pushing it too hard, too close... one in the rain even (you would think they wouldn't try to floor a 5.0 mustang in a tight corner, lol).

 

When it is only about winning, it brings out the worst in people.  In hot laps, I enjoy the challenge of seeing if there is a better way to handle corners-  as long as people play fair (no cheaters haha). 

But in a race, it is half psychological.

 

That is why Senna and Schumacher were such big winners, they took it past 100% which made others back off for their safety.

 

Sorry for the rant, but things like this just reminds me why even though I like interacting online, I feel like going so close to eachother, battling for the last piece of bread (Joking), is not fun for me, and maybe others feel the same too?
