Hi guys,

This season I will be admining this season of the Midweek Championship, because devilbevin does not have time the next few weeks, but he will be around :)

Simraceway Midweek Championship - Season 3 (February 2014)

What's new?

  • Multicar/multiclass races will take place in the championship
  • Timed races will be featured in this championship
  • Day to night transitions

Rules

  • Warnings or penalties can be assigned on-the-fly or post-race
  • If the system applies penalties, but it is due to a fault in the cutting track system, penalties will be removed
  • In multicar/multiclass races, drivers must race with the same car in the main race as the one they picked for their first heat race in the current week.
  • If the car X has been chosen to complete the heat race 1 (in that week), the driver must use it in the heat race 2 (if he didn't qualify for the main race) and in the main race itself
  • In multicar/multiclass races, there are two independent point systems and driver's final standings within the class they are competing in are taken into account, instead of the global position in the leaderboard.
    • The first driver finishing the race in the class X gets the same points as the first driver finishing the race in the class Y car
      • Feel free to choose the car you like the most or the one you drive better, thus allowing you to eventually get more points for that race, if everything goes well
  • Respect other on track, specially if there is a blue flag
  • Assists
    • TC (low, med),
    • ABS (low, high),
    • Stability Control (low),
    • Auto Shift (gearbox),
    • Auto Clutch
  • Only the best 3 out of the 4 rounds of the championship count for the overall final standings

Race calendar

  • 05th February 2014: Subaru Impreza S206 @ Watkins Glen Short - 30 Laps

  • 12th February 2014: Renault Megane Trophy @ Edmonton Indy - 32 Laps

  • 19th February 2014: Indycar @ Mandeenat - 31 Laps

  • 26th February 2014: McLaren MP4-12C GT3 + Bentley Speed 8 @ Daytona Road Course (time of the day IN THE TRACK - from 17:00 to 23:00) - timed at 45 minutes

Week Schedule

To every round of the championship,

  • Heat race 1 starts at 18:45 GMT (19:45 CET)

  • Heat race 2 starts at 19:05 GMT (20:05 CET)

  • Main race starts at 19:30 GMT (20:30 CET)

(ideal case scenario, without including delays)

Points system

(same for each class of cars running in the race)

  • 1st - 25 points
  • 2nd - 18 points
  • 3rd - 15 points
  • 4th - 12 points
  • 5th - 10 points
  • 6th - 8 points
  • 7th - 6 points
  • 8th - 4 points
  • 9th - 2 points
  • 10th - 1 points

How to qualify?

  • Heat races
    • Top 7 from Heat race 1 qualify  for main race
    • Top 7 from Heat race 2 qualify  for main race

Changes to this post might be done in the meantime, including the rules. Posts in this topic will be added if any of the content above is updated.

Marshal decisions / warning and penalty assignments

Drivers who were assigned penalties/warnings from previous seasons

The following drivers must be more careful, otherwise stronger penalties will be assigned if a similar incident is caused:

  • Drive Through for SuzukiJL50
  • Warning for Theflowww
  • Drive Through for El_N1No plus a warning to be careful on braking.
  • Drive Through for Lukesky80

More details for these warnings/penalties will be posted in the previous season's topic. Meanwhile, if you want to know the cause of this marshalling decisions, please send me a PM or leave a reply on this topic.

Round 1

For more details, please contact me or cossacco or devilbevin. The sanctions/warnings were applied with agreement on the 3 marshal elements

  • Warning for Axfitey due to avoidable incident with Lukesky80
  • Warning for TIR0 due to lifting the brake, resulting in what can be considered divebombing
  • Drive through for sikham due to continued incidents with Daniel_C
  • Race ban (just for next race) to Daniel_C for the continued incidents with sikham and very large track cuts (for example, on laps 3, 5, 6, 11, 12
    • The system has detected a track cut on lap 4 and applied a Stop & Go penalty, which has been removed due to me considering that the track cut was a result of avoiding to hit the guys in the front. However, going that wide could have been avoided, but that penalty has been removed on-the-fly.

Round 2

Round 3

Round 4

  • andreueikepasa: stop & go penalty due to incident on lap 2

Well, got to say that last race is very interesting... but i´m a bit suspicious about Madeenat track, because in previous challenges i always had low frame rate at some points even without cars arround. Also first race...with rally car...hmm...well...who vote for this things? :P

These are indeed some very interesting changes for this season. Is this slowly going to turn into the endurance championship that many of us are craving for? If so, me likey! ^_^

The decision to include that race at Daytona was to remember the Rolex 24 and the New Year Championship Round 3, also at Daytona.

The Endurance Championship is a separate proposal from any championship, including the Midweek one :)

I would also love to have more championships, including the endurance CH, but the problem is people say in the posts they want such championships or events so badly, events go online and then only a few guys show up.

Glad you guys like the new calendar ! Catch me on chat or via email if you have technical issues, I'll try to help as much as I can to make it smoother.

If you are a windows 7 user, try to apply the following fix:
http://community.sim...nder-windows-7/

Also, please try to show a bit more respect to fellow racers !
Overtaking moves such as pushing your opponent wide in a turn or squeeze him off the track is not allowed in any circumstances. However, accidents do happen, so you can avoid getting big penalties by giving back a position you have taken by brute force.
In touring car type racing a little bit of body contact is allowed, until the point the defender loses balance. In open wheeler race, body contact is not allowed in any forms.
You will have plenty of time to make clean moves and get yourself into the wanted finishing position. Take your times, respect your opponents, and please practice as much as possible.
Due to technical and chronological issues, I will only do the setups and not the marshaling, but please behave. :) Ricardo is a strong handed marshal too, so there is no escape ! :D

One more change compared to last season: The event type practice session will change into quick race type practice from now on. We believe this will improve quality of the first laps, where most incidents happen.

Best of luck to you all !

Thanks Daniel :)

You will have plenty of time to make clean moves and get yourself into the wanted finishing position. Take your times, respect your opponents, and please practice as much as possible.

Regarding the quote above, he is absolutely right, so please take his words seriously and put them into practice.

The following video should be used as inspiration for you guys to drive clean. Look at how many times the Maserati could have kept his position but had to back off in a a turn to avoid contact.

That is the type of racing we must see in simraceway. Very close racing, but no contact at all :)

Hi,

I don't know if we are using a custom of default setup, so it might be better to hold on for the final information.

By the way, I have just reminded cossacco to set up the practice server :)

Cheers

EDIT:

It will be default setup

The bad news is, it's going to be all default. The good news is it's more possible i will race again like normal ;)

Hello guys,

The practice server is now up: https://www.simracew.../7010?locale=en

There is also a short link for this topic which you can share around: www.bit.ly/midweekseason3

Please take some of your time to practice so that you get used to the car/track combo and have a great performance tomorrow.

Also, by practicing, the probability of having accidents during the official races is reduced, which matter to you for two important reasons:

  • Your car does not have its performance affected during the race or you don't have to leave the race before it finishes
  • You don't get your name to be on the race report, which may lead to penalties assignment

There are some guys who did not drive carefully in the last race of the previous season (their name will be updated in this topic and in the previous season's topic), were assigned some post-race penalties which will influence the grid position on the last season.

Those who have their name in post #3 (which will be updated shortly) might be applied a more severe penalty the next time they cause an incident/don't change their behaviour, as a result of the previous penalties (from past races).

Cheers and good luck for tomorrow :)

EDIT:

Post #3 is updated with warnings/penalties assigned from previous season.
