The first permanent park circuit in England, Donington Park utilized the extensive road network of the 1,100-acre Donington Hall estate. Its completion in 1933, after two years of road racing on the site, ended Brooklands’ UK monopoly. However, partly due to the outbreak of World War II, it would be another four decades before it realized its potential.

Reopened in 1977 as a 10-turn, 1.957-mile course (now referred to as the “National Circuit”), the track saw the addition of the “Melbourne Loop” in 1985, and the resulting 12-turn, 2.498-mile “Grand Prix Circuit” elevated the facility onto the global stage. As well as hosting the 1993 European Formula One Grand Prix, Donington Park has also provided the backdrop for World Touring Car Championship and MotoGP racing, amongst a number of other prestigious series.

Just so you know, Senna's record isn't the lap record overall, but is the fastest lap from the 1993 GP. Since it was wet that year it's not super fast. The absolute F1 record was Alain Prost the same year on his way to qualifying P1. That lap was a mind bending 1:10.458!
