The dimensions of its famous two-and-a-half-mile oval track, which has played host to the legendary Indianapolis 500 since its inception, have remained largely unchanged during its long and eventful history. However a Grand Prix Road Course was added at the turn of the millennium in order to accommodate the United States Formula One Grand Prix, which it held between 2000 and 2007. In addition to the Indy 500, Indianapolis Motor Speedway is also the setting for the Brickyard 400, the Indianapolis GP, and races from the NASCAR Nationwide Series, the Rolex Sports Car Series, and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.
